Yes, I wish more of us realized that.

I'm not speaking against those who do quote the Bible. It is a common way for us to explain things about our faith. However, I think when discussing religion with others who don't hold the same views, it's good if we can say things in our own words a lot of the time, and discuss things in an intelligent manner. Some people choose to mostly quote scripture, and it doesn't seem like they're really giving good responses because they don't say enough in their own words.

GRACE UNTO YOU, and (then) peace,
from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Let all jews, muslims, christians, and many other wise (than firstly pure wisdom from above is also firstly peace-able in James 3:17) real-ize there's a difference between impure religion and "pure religion" (James 1:27), perhaps as the difference between Law and Grace, is as the difference between Death and Life, or the difference between Destroyed and Saved, or the difference between God our Destroyer and God our Saviour.

Pure religion notably paid a "visit", not a ransom.
A visitation to all those "afflicted" with life + death.
It arrived "undefiled" and it remained "unspotted".
Pure religion is not corruptible, but incorruptible.
It's first finished of two "finished"s in Jn 17 & 19.
For sin, when "it is finished", brings forth death.
Law imputed sin has a death sting for you all.
Unless you all let law be dead testator of NT.

For by the using of ordinances it's notably all perish.

The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ WITH YOU ALL. AMEN.

Legitimate point. I think it just comes naturally to quote the Bible, because that is what our beliefs are based in. But is does no good to point out things in the Bible if the other person does not believe the Bible to be true.

What you do not seen to realize is that when we read the Bible we read it as inspired of God and we use its truths to answer questions. I'm sorry if you do not agree on the inspiration of the Bible but at least understand that in quoting a verse we are giving an answer.

In this section it is impossible to discuss as we each have only one shot at a question or a reply.

They don't. If you ask for proof, they quote the bible and expect you to just accept what the 2000 year old book written by mankind during a time when people still believed in dragons as the actual truth.

When someone ask a question about the bible I like to quote them the bible. That way they can't say that is your view. I show them what God says and its up to them to believe it or reject it. When I quote from the bible I am speaking for myself.

It's the only thing they have to hang their hat on. When I was a bit younger I was crazy about Harry Potter and I talked about him all the time and I would bring my book with me. I kind of wanted to be in his school. People humored me. I think its a bit like that, I don't mean to be disrespectufl, but how can a Christian really talk about religion without going to the one thing they have: see god said . . .

I just want to counter "whynotaskdon's" intolerant scolding to you. Questions are not often answered fully without clarification, i.e.: "debate." The best part about this forum is that you can click out of it at will.

Wish more people knew that! When people do that I assume the either don't understand what the bible is saying or they are afraid to form an opinion.
