Lice don't normally infect dogs. They like human blood. They may jump on an animal when they can't find a human blood source, but they'll jump to the first human they can find.

Apparently they can, I just bought flea shampoo for my dogs the other day and was surprised at what was written on the bottle. The shampoo was for killing fleas, there eggs, ticks, and lice. There is your answer. Also if your sitter has not sterilized the house and you yours and others who came in contact with your daughter at the time you could be looking at another infestation Keep a close eye on her hair for at least two weeks.

Dog/cat lice usually stick with their kind but if they are hungry they aren't fussy little chaps and will happily have a nibble from humans....don't be too quick to dismiss you sitter tho..its a well known fact lice are not fussy who they breed on an the opposite of common opinion they prefer a clean head...these little critters are easy to get rid of just go to local chemist/pharmacy and get a remedy...

No. Dogs don't get lice. She must have gotten it at the sitters. Probably from another child who brough it over there.

It is more likely that she got them from the PEOPLE at your sitter. I would be looking for a new sitter.

Not usually.

But they could give her mange. If there are any dogs that have strange bald patches, that would indicate a possibility.

Other than that, there's no telling where she might have picked it up. Is she ever around other children?
