You are entitled to see a doctor. You can ask for an emergency appointment or if it's really bad then go to your nearest A&E department. There are also walk-in centres where you can see a doctor immediately. NHS Direct may be able to assist.

Hi if your pain is really bad and you have been taking pain killers such as Ibuprofen for the sweeling muscles or paracetamol, then you may need to go to the nearest hospital as you may have a slipped disc or something. Just take yourself up to A&E and get them too look at you. Then i would go to a different doctor also as if it is an emergency them they should try to get you in a soon as possible. If you dont want to go to the hospital. Keep ringing everyday as there might be a cancellation or something. I went to the doctors on Monday and Friday when the appointment was made there was an appointment for 5:30 or the next day for 10:50. So my brother took the 5:30 one, but we had to cancell as he couldnt make it so we tried to get one the next day and he got in for 9:45, when they told me the only appointment was 10:30. So just keep trying its not only you they do it to.I have to wait a week for a blood test.

Lay on a firm surface (like the floor), you can lay on your back with your knees raised or on your side with a pillow between your knees. Place a pack of peas or similar on your back every so often and have hot and cold showers about 2 or 3 times a day. Voltarol cream is soothing and you can take ibupofen to help.
Don't sit or stand until your back is better - lay down or walk only. An osteopath will help and you can usually get in to see one quickly.
All the best!

Ring back the surgery, and ask for an emergency appoint within 48 hours. That's the NHS's target for all emergencies. A Walk-In-Clinic probably won't be able to give you pain-killers to help; only the A&E can do that because they'll have doctors on staff there.

go to the nearest store and get a heat patch and put it on. It should help in the meantime. They cost from $3 to $10; don't know what that is in your currency. Lucky you, you can go to a doctor at all...I don't have health care and have to PAY for my doctor visits at 80 bucks a time, for about 15 minutes! After a 2-4 week wait!

You could phone back and say that it is very important you see the doctor today, or you could go to a hospital. You could try a walk-in doctor (if you have any of those in the town you are in). Otherwise you could try something like robaxacette or spasm-halt. Also, ice tends to help.

Try putting a warm pack on your back and taking ibuprofen. If you can't see a doctor see if you can get an appoinment with a chiropractor or physio therapist. I used to go to a doctor for back pain, but then I started going to a chiropractor and I haven't had back pain since.

If you have registered with the GP you are entitled to an urgent appointment (within 24hrs), get back to them and tell them you need a quicker appointment than one week. That is way too long to wait.
