I gave her two and a half months notice because i know we are going to be really busy and dont want to let her down. I dont have a new job to go to yet!

If you are not happy at work it is always a good idea to move on. Generally I suggest finding a new job first as it could take a few months, but if you stay at your job for 2 1/2 mo. while looking for a new one, then you will probably have a very short break in pay. If all else fails, you can flip burgers until your perfect job comes through.

Congratulations and welcome to the beginning of the next phase in your life.

You have put this in the category of mental health and I think that is quite appropriate, as if you are being treated badly at work it will affect your mental health in the long run. If it is a corporation there may be someone to complain to. It often will solve the problem if you go over your bosses head. But I do not know where you work. Yes, giving up your job is a good idea. It may be easier to find another one while you have a job, so please start searching now.

Im really pleased for you doing that, or rather having the courage to do that. I'm in a similar situation at the moment, I love my job but loathe my boss and its making my working life a living nightmare! I have been looking for a new role for 3mths, but am still waiting to find the right thing.

Financially I just cant the risk of resigning until I have a new role confirmed, as I couldnt afford to go without a full salary for any period of time. If you dont have financial worries, or can cover any short fall, then I'd definitely say go for it, because it just constantly undermines your confidence and general mental health to work in an environment that makes you desperately unhappy.

Good luck to you and hope you find something during your notice period. Well Done!

I think that 2 1/2 months notice is awesome of you. And should be enough time to either find a replacement job or save up a little to keep you afloat. You shouldn't have to work for a boss that treats you badly. I think you did the right thing.

Bloody great idea!! I think if you're not happy in your current job - leave! Life is way too short to spend 9 hours a day, 5 days a week unhappy. You're obviously a decent person by giving so much notice for them to find a replacement, you should stick up 2 fingers and tell them you'll stick to the contracted notice and "GOOD BYE BOSS FROM HELL!!"

Prob too much notice.
Are you sure you did not give her that much time in order to attempt to "make peace" with you.?
make a deal on the table?

Far to long.
If you disliked the job enough to quit then 30 days max notice.
you should have delayed informing her until later if you had planned on staying thru this busy time.
you may have create an even more unpleasant situation.

you better seek employment. If I was her- you would be walking.
and quick,
you may even have trouble with unemployment benefits if you can't find a job.

sounds likes the old 7 p program

and you haven't planned well--you have no plan.

two and half months is a long time, if you dread it move on, look out for you, what happened to two weeks notice and look for a job in that two week time. If you're not happy why would you stick it out that long, if the boss is treating you really bad MOVE ON.

we are sailing in the same boat.Dont leave the job, give u r boss mental tension like not doing work properly, not going on time, indirect critisisam (dont go beyond limit) first then when he feels bad then be as nice as with him so that the feel ashame of himself/herself.Give him a present and help him in every way u can he should defently realise and he change his attitude afterwards with you if not with the next sub ordinents.

Have you tried confronting your boss and telling her how you feel? There is a fine line between being worked hard and being bullied. If you feel mistreated threaten to take your employer to an industrial tribunal.

Don't just run away, stand up for yourself and at least leave with some compensation and self respect...

I personally don't see why we should suffer at work. Use your notice to find a job you will want to get back to as fast as possible after the weekend!
