I am so tired. I have no problem going to sleep but I can't stay asleep for more than 2-3 hrs. I toss and turn all night long. I have never had any problems sleeping. Anyone had this side effect w/Cymbalta?

I took it for a while. I didn't like it. I was tired all the time too. Tired all the time - a sign of depression. I stuck with it for a while, then when I was talking to my doctor, she asked me if I thought that things were worse than when I was on the previous medication. After I thought about it, I realized it was worse. Tired, depression, listless - I hadn't realized it until she asked.
So, she took me off and put me back on a slightly higher dose of my previous medication. Things got better pretty quickly.
The "good" thing about antidepressants is that there are so many of them these days that if one doesn't work there's another one to try. While most of them take up to 2-3 weeks to take effect - there is something out there that should help you without the tiredness and sleeping problems.
Talk to your doctor about switiching your med. Don't be afraid to speak up when you're in the office. This is your health, you have the right to ask questions and expect that what you say is listened to. Too many people (and I'm not implying that you're this way) are still in awe of their doctors, so they don't question or make suggestions about their course of treatment.
Let's face it - it's your body, it's your life - you're the only one who can say that something is or isn't working - so don't be afraid to speak up.
Good luck!!

I think this is a side effect, but it goes away after 3-4 weeks. I don't know what your dose is, but usually it starts out at 30mg and maxes at 60mg, which is the target dose.
The other thing is you have to take it early in the morning so the energy goes away by night time. It may also give you strange dreams or nightmares.

Talk to your doctor if you think your dose is too high or you may need a temporary sleep aid like AmbienCR.
