I am looking for a good free program that will clean my registry of all the junk that I have installed over the years. I am reluctant to reformat as It has taken so much time to get my XP setup the way I like it.

I would also appreciate any other hints and tips to clean out my system other than removing files and organizing my documents folder and the regular system tools from xp such as disk cleanup and defrag, etc.

Good, free programs are often far and few between. The only thing that I would offer is the what i use to keep my registry clean. For me it is StompSoft's Registry Repair. I suggest this because it is not as aggressive as some other registry cleaners which means that there is less chance for accidental deletion of important registry entries.
