1. Which one of the following sentences contains an unnecessary word?

A. Why don’t you leave before the crowd arrives?
B. The snake raised up its head and struck.
C. She left early, though he told her not to.
D Rich was angry, but he concealed his feelings.
C--Is not correct

Again, This is NOT my work. I am helping a friend with her English work. Also she does not have the internet. She is from Germany and she’s having a hard time understanding English. With your comments it is helping her to understand English, and also how to use it later. Plus I don’t want to get the wrong answer in showing her. That’s why I am asking for some extra help. Is that a crime?

Example:
It's -- is the contraction of IT IS
Its -- is the possessive -- belonging to it

I would say 'up' is superfluous in B as 'raise' means to lift up. You can't raise down.

In B "up" is redundant raised already implies up.

It would have "raised its head".
