If they are inside your mouth, rinse with equal parts of hydrogen peroxide and water. That will make them go away quickly and prevent them from returning.

As it appears and cracks open, dab on some rubbing alcohol. It will burn for a moment, but it will kill the virus/germs and dry up. When you feel a tingle of one starting, there is a vitamin you can get at any Walgreens/ walmart etc., called L-lysine. Take three right away and 2 every 3-4 hours thereafter. It will usually not even surface if you catch it right away. If it has been tingling for most of the day the L-lysine will help it into not being as big and painful...meaning it will be less noticable and go away sooner. That Abreva crap is VERY expensive and it's main ingredients is L lysine. I HATE those things and now, it is rare if I get one! It's a shared secret from my mom who learned it from her Dr. I love you, Mom!

Im prone to coldsores and i find that drying them out helps get rid of them alot quicker. During the day i use witch stick which you can get from a chemist....it's about the size of a tube of lipstick and you can just dab the it on your coldsore but it will dry it out quickly. Also compeed coldsore patch is a little patch that you can out over the coldsore which helps me aswell. At night this might sound a bit strange...i put tootpaste on it which also helps dry it out but also stops it irratating you. I hope this helps!

Rinse the area with a mixture of hydrogen peroxide, Benadryl and Maalox (do not sawllow) then use Abreva if they are on the lips or chin. Lysine pills can stop breakouts of coldsores and make the ones you already have get better faster.

Go to the doctor and get prescription valtrex or zovirax. There's nothing better. It stops the spread and helps them heal much faster.

If you cant do that, then get some abreva. Dab rubbing alcohol on the cold sore, then put abreva over it a few times a day. That helps.

I use Abreva as well, but I also put Blistex on it too. I've found that using them both the sore goes away pretty quickly. Also, if I'm lucky I'll have that tingly sensation as a warning that one is on it's way, and I'll apply the Abreva and Blistex and I can prevent the outbreak. But alas, most times I just wake up with the horrible things.

Valtrex works good but you will need prescription for it.
I hear Abreve works well too
I also recommend taking Lysine-L both to prevent and heal it faster
If you cannot find Abreva or Valtrex kind of things, try putting some toothpaste on the sore. it will burn but it will help it freeze.

If you are asking about the cold sores in the mouth, antiseptic mouthwash definetely helps
I also heard if you use baking soda on them it works well too but I did not try.

Sometimes if you can put ice on them early enough before they blister you can make them stop.has worked for me before.but you have to do it right when you first feel them coming and ice the area well, and i mean well. till it hurts.for about 30 minutes. If they have already blistered then abreva is your best bet.

Abreva! It works faster than anything I've ever tried! Take a fever reducer too, to make sure it doesn't come back!
