No, for all the reasons already stated plus this one:

MMA is a skill which takes training and time. Violent conflicts in school don't occur between people who will take the time to learn these skills. I see this in my own students; once they've been training for a while they just don't find themselves in the conflicts. Bullies leave them alone and it doesn't even seem to matter if they can beat the bullies.

And then there are the bullies themselves: why do they start these conflicts? Because they want to control someone else. So an organized situation would not suit them. It takes away their chance to intimidate and control. It puts their own limitations in bold relief.

Ordinary conflicts which escalate to fighting would never make it to the ring. Such conflicts flare up in the moment and generally are more about raging hormones, problems with maturity and poor judgement than actual conflict resolution.

In the long run, what you'd get is a group of kids who were seriously into MMA and you'd still have all the other fights you were trying to prevent. The kids into MMA would probably never get involved in the other conflicts. Heck, they'd likely be unaware of most of them in the same way the kids into football, basketball, baseball, etc. are too busy to be bothered with the stupid fights (although, I'll grant that some of these kids are among the worst for starting fights, but that seems to me to be yet another argument against the idea).

No, simply because only a certain few would be interested, the idea is good particularly in the fact that if the match is called on the count of whatever the outcome or decision, then there shouldn't be further need for another match, but it's not very sound.

people are going to fight, that's a given, and more than likely, they're gonna wanna settle the dispute right then and there instead of worrying about setting up a match to settle the dispute.

and because it's not a collegiate or school organized sport there would be insurance problems in the case a student was injured, that there would be legal problems for the school system.

and as they have stated (Spidertiger, JerryL, and Michael Rhiele have) it'd just lead to more problems than solutions, so the better thing to do is have the students talk about their problems with one another to solve the issue.

Wow! What a good question.
here is the deal, high school boys fight. Boys will be boys. No one can change reality, so since we recognize it as a fact how do we deal with it? Your proposal is to settle the disputes in a supervised manner. It is logical.
the problem is that people will say it encourages violence and the parents would never support it, plus the schools are so scared of lawsuits that they wouldn't do it either. So it will never happen.

So, back to reality, the kids will fight in an unorganized manner increasing the risks.

I guess the best solution is to make the kids talk out there problems. But I think this is unrealistic, if a child wants to fight they may talk through it but the urge will rise again.

Ask somewhat some questions such as you're doing now and make useful despite you do in the Marines, that it will translate to a civilian job. No, all of us does no longer could bypass in the infantry. The Marines is like college, that's going to likely be what you're making of it. do no longer waste all a while ingesting and partying, use a while wisely, get all of the certifications which you would be able to, take any classification that they supply.

How's this going to work. Going to run weight classes for the fighters? Is this going to mean no more big kids are going to pick on the smaller ones because their not in their weight class? Won't this just make some upset kids that get their butt stomped? Who's to say they don't try getting revenge some way else? Who's going to pay for any of the medical bills from the injured kids?

Personally I think it's a stupid idea.

Are you nuts? That would be totally counter-productive to them learning to live and deal with problems as an adult in society. If you teach them to fight to solve problems, then that's the method they think should be used to solve problems with their wives and children, their neighbors, their co-workers. Violence only leads to more violence, and nevers solves any problem. Don't we have enough wife-beaters and child abuse and workplace violence already? So the loser doesn't like it and brings a gun to school and kills the winner and his friends, then kills himself or dies in a hail of gunfire with the police. No way should that be an answer to anything, and it is TOTALLY against the teachings of martial arts.

Yes it should.

It would teach kids to stand up for themselves rather than be the sissies that tell on people and whine about bullying. If someone is bullying you the best answer is not to tell and look to thier psycological profile, its a good fist to the bully's face.

We are raising a generation of kids who will not learn integrity and what it is to stand up for yourself and not be a pushover.

I realize that today not all fights are resolved with thier fists as schools have problems with weapons. That is why an organized and overseen outlet for a fight like an MMA setting would be good and might be a good way to teach the kid to stand up for himself/herself and rid the conflict of any weapons.

martial artists should never fight to settle confrontations. Mixed Martial Artists are not street brawlers.
