I am a working mother of 2 children. My life is busy-so I expect to be tired. I work out moderately - I eat well & I try to get at least 8 hours of sleep at night.
Without excessive caffine...how can I keep energized throughout the day?? Some mornings I am really dragging myself out of bed & feel like I'm dragging throughout the day.
Any suggestions?

Take a look at what you are eating. It may be a healthy diet but you may be reacting so something you are eating. Keep a food journal and include how tired or energized you feel. Experiment with different amounts of veggies or carbohydrates or protiens. You may find that you feel more energized when you eat more protiens and veggies and less carbohydrates. Or it could be the other way around. Just experiment, keep a journal and see what works for you. Also, drink plenty of water, at least 8 glasses a day. Stay away from caffiene, that will only cause you problems.

See your doctor for a physical. Ask you doctor to check your thyroid and consider the possibility that you are depressed and may need medication for that.

Prozacs you suffer from depression

I'M GOING TO ELABORATE A LOT MORE!

For those who are wondering why I didn't complete this last night I had to leave and didn't realize what time it was and the library closed so I couldn't complete it but I thought it would keep some people in suspense on what it was I was going to say especially the asker. I gave the thumbs up for her question because people don't realize about this and how serious it.

Feel like your dragging yourself through out the day like you really want to just put your head down for more rest which you never seem to get and you probably on weekends and days off you lie down for rest after you had a full nights of sleep. Even if you sleep on a bed of feathers you would be exhausted and maybe I'm wrong but I really don't think so but if you were to lie down on a bed of stones you would have no problems falling a sleep.
I have been there!
Deep inside the brain is a gland that produces serotonin this chemical makes us happy and lets us function throughout the day if you have to little you won't have much interest in anything and you won't properly function through out the day. Henceforth always tired or I should say exhausted. I'm sure your co-workers are looking at you and wondering how come you never can wake up.
What prozacs and now the new drug selexa do is it regulates the serotonin that the brain produces to normal levels. If you have to much serotonin this is extremely dificult for the doctors to treat since they have to decrease the levels with other meds and these people are a major threat to them selves because they don't anticipate the harm and danger they may put themselves into, from all the energy they have to burn and they feel almost invincible. These people frequently don't sleep for days and are wide awake even if they hadn't sleep for 3 to 5 nights no problem and can still function with the feeling of being tired.I was up for 2 nights 3 days it wasn't a pleasant feeling but i could function with out any problems.
All the caffiene in the world won't wake you up, I've been there to and now that I'm taking the new pill selexa I use to take prozacs but I'm just trying selexa because it's a new generation pill and there the same almost I don't drink as much coffee nor do I crave it like I use to. Going to the gym will help increase your energy for a while but won't last long and probably dissipates not long after the work out.
Before you get worse rather than coming on to the yahoo answeres go to a doctor. I was really embarrased to talk to a doctor but was relieved when he explained about the serotonin and just like diabetecs needing insulin to survive chances are you'll need antidepressants for life like a diabetec needs insulin for life.

I know how you feel. By the time my oldest was 4 and my youngest was 1.. I just couldn't seem to get myself out of bed anymore. Coffee didn't even work, but what I found was that eating alot of fruit did. I also made sure that I didn't watch TV later at night, and that I didn't eat anything after 7.

I think that if you spend a little more time outside, NEVER miss breakfast, and make sure that you try a little relaxing in the evening after the kids are in bed, you might find it a little easier to get up.

It could be physical, like Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or you just may not be getting enough sleep to catch up with your energy you need in the day.
You should try to pace yourself and have an hour or so a day to unwind, like doing yoga or just resting and reading a book without any distractions. Alot of people go to a pool or sauna and unwind that way, it's a wonderful stress-reliever!
Good luck and make sure you let your doctor know how you're feeling.

Intend to be more relaxed. When you go about your daily life, take more care than usual. The Japanese have a Zen artistry about their daily lives. Everything is done with great mindfulness. They can sit and be still, and eventually become calm, thinking of nothing at all, simply enjoying the peace. When the surrounding environment wants you to rile up, you don't have to answer it's call. You're the only one who creates your own experience. Breathe deeply throughout the day.

Do you sleep in total darkness? You may have a problem with sleep deprivation even if you don't know it. Another thing is you may be sleeping on a lumpy mattress.
Lastly, a wonderful vitamin is All-One. It is expensive, but it will give you back energy so you can get through day.

Try some sort of energy drink, they help a lot. I also heard eating an apple has more potential power than a cup of coffee. It's worth a try right?
