Sometimes singers will purposely mispronounce 2 rhyming words, so they don't rhyme anymore, just for "effect" - even if the singer wrote the rhyming lyric, they will sing it so it doesn't rhyme. Usually when they perform live, but ceratin singers (like Ambrosia P. from the band "Shivaree") will do it even in the studio.

I am guessing that there is a TERM for this musical device. I am also guessing that singers have been doing this for centuries.

Does anyone know-
1) if there's a word for this?
2) other singers who do this a lot?

Thanks...

I haven't come across this but then again I am very bad at hearing lyrics. I tend to get stuck on the melody. I would imagine that what you are talking about is some sort of artistic license and might just fall into that generalisation rather than having a specific term.
