SMPS is the short form of Switch Mode Power Supply.

Its an important alternative to conventional Transformer based Power supplies. SMPS is very efficient, Low cost & Economical compared to the transformer bsed Power supplies.

Generally SMPS are being used in almost all types of modern electronic equipment like PC, TV, Mobile Charger, DDVD Player, etc.

SMPS can be used for conversion of Voltage or Current just like regular Tranformer Based power supplies.
