There are MANY. Unfortunately hypothyroidism is one of the most undiagnosed illness there is. Go get a TSH test at your doctors office (an Endocrinologist would be even better). There are many websites and books that can give you all the information you need on the subject. One book that I've read is "Hypothyroidism: What They Don't Tell You"

Some of the symptoms are:
Fatigue
Weakness
Weight gain or increased difficulty losing weight
Coarse, dry hair
Dry, rough pale skin
Hair loss
Cold intolerance (can't tolerate the cold like those around you)
Muscle cramps and frequent muscle aches
Constipation
Depression
Irritability
Memory loss
Abnormal menstrual cycles
Decreased libido

check the website: www.endocrineweb.com

There are medications that can help you so don't fret.

Good luck, from one that knows.

Symptoms usually begin slowly and you may not realise you have a medical problem for several years.
Common symptoms include:
tiredness
being sensitive to cold
weight gain
Elderly people with an underactive thyroid may develop memory problems and depression. Children may experience slower growth and development. Teenagers may start puberty earlier than normal.

My friend suffered for hypothyroid 2 years ago. she read a book on the internet which is useful for her disease. you can see the book at: http://adola.net/go/hypothyroidismrevolution/

There is a continuing problem with the tests for hypothyrodoism: too many people (esp. women) are diagnosed as normal because their tests don't show an underactive thyroid output.

This would be called "sub-clinical hypothyroidism".

The symptoms are listed above, especially weight gain, depression or other mood disorders, such as anxiety and fatigue.

If your doctor truly wants to work with you, he/she will prescribe a thyroid supplement to see if it alleviates the symptoms. If they refuse, get another opinion! Not all test are reliable, esp. this one.

Fatigue, coldness, feeling depressed and sleepy, weight gain, etc. This is very easily checked by a thyroid panel blood test done in the doctor's office.

tiredness, dry skin, increased sensetivity to cold, weight-gain, lack of mental focus, and depression are a few possible symptoms. this disease has a HUGE range of possible symptoms, which is why it can be hard to diagnose.
