In all my travels, I have seen and have been recipient of people who just do something to be nice.
Here are examples
a) A woman swiped her card at the gas station when a young man's card wouldn't work
b) A man paid for a ladies watermelon when she found she was short at the checkout (turned out she takes it to the elderly)
c) On our doorstep on Christmas I found a box of new, wrapped toys for my kids.
d) Another Christmas, I found a taped to the drivers seat of my car, in it was a $100 bill, with a note that said "Your sister in Christ love you."
Two of these were because they felt God would want them to do it, one was because "I had money in my pocket" and one I have no idea.
What have you seen or received?

This is not about being Christian, this is about being human.
Also, not all these things happened to me. The more I see, the more faith I have in the human race.

Jo - I agree. It's the small acts of kindness that can make a difference in a persons life.

I have been the recipient of many things and I know that God sent those people my way. One of things that I remember is when I son was getting too big for his infant seat I went into walmart to price the bigger ones. Well, I didn't get one because at that time they were just to expensive for me. And a man and woman followed me out of the store and asked me if I needed a car seat and they gave me an almost brand new car seat! When my parents were pregnant with me, they had no money. They had about 20 dollars to get groceries with and they had no food at home. They went to the grocery store and got what they could, and when they went to the checkout the cashier said, " It's already been paid for, by him" She pointed towards an old man who was walking out the door that my parents had never seen before and have not seen since! God is Great, isn't He!!!!!!

Last week I went grocery shopping. Our store has cards you can use to gain savings on certain items. I forgot my card in my car. The man behind me let the cashier use his. I saved 75 cents. Not a lot but helped because if he didn't let me use his card, I would have been 45 cents short in cash. I thanked him twice. He simply smiled at me.
A month ago in our city, the news reported that there was an elderly, crippled man that had him drivers' license taken away because it was unsafe for his to drive. He started driving his lawnmower around town to get to the gas station and grocery store and church. The police ticketed him 4 times for driving the lawnmower in the streets. Someone heard of this and anonymously paid for his fines and bought his a state-of-the-art electronic wheelchair with all the gadgets. This person dropped it off at the fire department and asked them to deliver it to the man. They did and he drove it around smiling like crazy and when interviewed he was crying and really wanted to meet this person to give them a big hug. This story made me cry. What a wonderful person! There are great things out there, the media should be focusing on them more.

People do nice things for me all the time, and I try to do as much as I can.
The nicest one done for me that I can remember was when my son was 3 and sprayed WD-40 in his eyes in the car. My husband had left the can in the back seat and I hadn't seen it. I pulled over and called for help and couldn't get my son out of his carseat because I was so upset. A man stopped, took my son out and rushed him into a nearby bakery and rushed him to the kitchen and began rinsing his eyes under the faucet. The rescue unit came and I lost track of that man, but I will never forget him or what he did.

I notice all kinds of acts of kindness on a daily basis whether it is someone at the supermarket letting you into the line to being helped in an airport with my luggage to having someone stop to give me some good directions when travelling. Maybe we should each make it a mission to try to do as many small acts of kindness throughout the day for others.

I wasn't able to scrape up all the money to get my brakes fixed on my car a while back, and the mechanic took 20% off the price for me.And I once helped an elderly gentleman with arthritis change the flat tire on his car. I believe in karma.

I saw my own daughter go directly to her bank and deposit $500 into a friend's account that was overdrawn. The friend was crying because she had miscalculated and was $500 overdrawn at the bank and had no idea how she would make her house payment. It made me feel wonderful to know that I had raised such a beautiful, caring person. It took the friend a couple months but she did pay my daughter back for her generosity.

Besides the small daily kindnesses I see people do for one another my entire community has been the recipient of many many people's kindness and generosity. I live on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and my faith in the goodness of people has been renewed after Hurricane Katrina visited us.

I came to work this morning and found 6 sets of guitar strings on my desk that some unknown person gave me.
In a restaraunt, I paid for a soldier's lunch. In front of the crowd, I said, "As a citizen, I thank you for your service to our country and I would be honored if I could pay for your meal."
When my wife was seriously injured in a car accident, our church brought her meals while I was at work.
