It is one of the oddities of life that we do not live in an ideal world. After WWI, when whole generations of men were wiped out, no one wanted another war. It is easy now to make fun of Chamberlain and his treaty with Hitler, but the desire of peace was so strong that people wanted to stick their heads in the sand. War is dirty and nasty, almost completely lacking in glory.
However the alternatives are even more frightening. Appeasement doesn't work well. When you look at the history of Viet Nam, almost everything we predicted came true and millions of people died. However, because we fought it the wrong way doesn't mean we shouldn't have been there. It was an unpopular war mostly because we couldn't recognize our enemy and the people we were fighting with were too corrupt to hold the government together. While the former is true now in Iraq and other parts of the world, the latter has yet to be proven. Until that happens, then I am in favor of the US standing against the bullies of the world.
Lastly, if you follow the history of modern Muslim terrorism, it started long before we invaded Iraq. Frankly, I am a little surprised we haven't nuked Iraq off the face of the earth. I think we have shown remarkable restraint, but that is what we do.
I hope every Muslim terrorist awaiting his 21 virgins in heaven finds out that they are all nuns and they have guns.

Terrorism is not an idea but an act, the act of using terror as a weapon. You cannot wage war on an act, it would be like declaring war on the pulling of triggers. The idea was absurd from the start, it 's just one more excuse to prolong the killing.

Yes we can. Sadly we won't because too many people have a deathwish for Western Culture. The only high point is I can go with the flow and will adapt Islam if they win no problem. Imagine all the whiners who cry about Iraq etc, you think they will learn to keep their mouths shut. No way, I forsee months of beheadings etc.

Thats like asking can we make Jahova Witnesses celebrate christmas if we hold guns to their heads....NO!! You boys need to come home to your families. Your fighting in another country which im not even sure want you their. Some might think your making it worse....some not. but the truth of it is alot of the people back in your country are wondering what are we over their fighting about or for....its gone on so long... the purpose is sometime forgotten. We just want you all home and safe. My brother in law just came home for a bit from his term over their ... just to go back over in a few months...I pray every night he comes home safe and nothing happens to him. You can't help another country until you help your own first.

Yes we could still win the war on terrorism but we have to change our tactics, we have "the bomb' right, well, all we have to do is drop it in Iran and you will see that they will stop their terrorism against the western countries. But are we going to do that, I don't think so, so what was your question....

Yes right after we win the war on drugs. then we will have a war on crime and evil and stamp out all evil and all be saints. We will have a war against death and we will all live forever but before that we will have a war on infidelity and no one will cheat we will all be perfect and live in harmony together or G Dub. will have us all killed.

Yes , but I believe the only way to win is to stop trying the diplomacy crap and actually do some serious destruction, its one of the few things terrorists seem to understand . ( I've been to Iraq , so I have had some experience dealing with their mind set .)

no because of the broad definition of "terror."
you wont be able to stop terror attacks like school shootings and abortion bombing short of non stop police state style monitoring of everyone you can reach within your networks.
cashless society would probably help stop this.... etc...

who are 'we' here? USA? How come you say you are at war on terrorism, while you always support Israel in each of their terrorism actions, and let them kill thousands of Palestinians and Lebanese, including childrens, babies, parliament and cabinet members, women, elderly, .... powerplants, bridges, airports roads , everything indiscriminately ?????
