The best way is to increase physical activity and decrease calories. However I had to respond because you say your a teenage girl. I dieted hard when i was a teenager and lost 30 pounds however did not know what i know today. Even if you cut calorise and change your foods you must eat 3 to 4 servings of dairy (milk or cheese). So 400 of your calories need to come from here. But if you want to lose weight 1200-1500 calories would be the way to do it so that is a big portion of your calories. However if you do not get 3 to 4 servings you will not get the CALCIUM YOU NEED. YOU ONLY ABSORB CALCIUM until around 18-21 then this thing on your bone closes and lets no more calcium in. Therefore you need to pack it in now or you will get osteoporosis. 1 in 3 girls get osteoprosis so that is why it is so important and some get it as early as age 30 and it can really change your life. So good luck on the weight loss and remember to drink your milk. If you do not listen to what I say at least get some calcium citrate (you cannot absorb calcium carbonate as well). Good luck

teenage girls and boys should only be put on diets by nutritionists or doctors. you are probably still growing and therefor probably just need to gain weight more slowly or hold steady so that your height can catch up. that being said, there's nothing wrong with switching your diet to a HEALTHIER diet.. stop drinking sodas and eat lots of fruits and vegetables, and make sure to be physically active for 30 minutes to an hour each day.. physically active doesn't mean you have to exercise.. it can be cleaning your house at a brisk pace or sports or dancing or whatever.. so long as it gets your heart rate up. fad and binge diets can be very dangerous at your age, so please do not try a diet without a proper medical assessment of your needs (see a doctor)
