Olden times, we used to get up and bow down to show our respect to elders, teachers and similar respectable people. Of late they are not to be seen. Even in buses, trains etc people used to get up and give seats to elders when they are standing. Now they are either ignored or are treated without any respect. Has our etiquettes changed?

The etiquette's hasn't changed the people have. I think it is down right disrespectful that we who call our self Americans, Christians, or even decent people don't even do those things anymore. The only thing that we are doing is creating a even more corrupt world. The thing that you have to remember most is the apple don't fall far from the tree. If there is a mis-behaving child it do to a mis-behaving mother. If their is a mis-behaving mother that is because their is a mis-behaving farther if their is one there at all. We are domed as a world and country if we don't get back to some of these basics and get back to them fast.

I think not only has time changed but the way people have raised their kids has changed.
It is so hard to raise your kids to say yes sir , no ma'am when other Adults tell them "you don't have to say that". It makes it even harder when other people raise their children to think only of themselves. I am not a perfect mother. I do try, however, to raise my kids to have respect for others esp. their elders.
It is sad to watch respect people once had for each other become a thing of the past.

It needs to change our mind set and do what we feel is right without caring for what the society will think. The society will soon follow you.

No, our manners have. As parents became more and more lenient and less and less interested in their children's public behavior, these respects have slowly died out.

I still do it.
