I told him I was leaving the country for Italy and now he turned his cell phone off he usually leaves it on waiting for my messages...he is 14. Why did he turn it off i feel hurt now...

maybe he's feeling hurt that u r leaving him... give him a few mins.. i'm sure he will turn on his hp... that's if u keep on trying... don't give up...

He is isolating himself from you so he can start getting on with his life! Respect that this is his way of dealing with his loss. Do not call him whining about him not taking your calls. If you do get through to his voicemail, leave a message that you understand he doesn't want to take calls from you but he will always have a special place in your heart and you will truly miss him. I would write him a letter or two after you get to Italy and talk about how things are going, you miss him, etc...that way he can keep the letter forever! Don't bug him about writing back, he may want to cut off communication, but just know that he is not necessarily angry, he's hurt.

He's hurt and that's his way of coping. If you don't hear from him before you leave... send him a note or a card letting know how you feel about him...
