It has recently become clear in the US that our country is obese. Children are being diagnosed with obesity at a young age and it has been getting bad. Until recently its been getting somewhat better, I think alot of it has to do with fast food at such a low price. If you want a Cheeseburger, You can get one for a buck, but if you want a salad, its almost 5 bucks. So the junk food is alot cheaper than the healthy stuff, which is STUPID. I work out every day and I feel wonderful and have such a positive attitude NOW.... but before this I was uncomfortable in my own skin and wasnt NEAR as positive. Working out has changed my life, and some people just want a quick fix... they want something that works fast and NOW, and its just not out there! It takes effort to look good, it takes TIME... and people are inherantly LAZY... So congrats to your girlfriend.

Good for her, that's great to hear.
Well, the problem lies deep within each individual. Different reasons for all. There's the typical self-punishment, "I don't deserve better" mentality. There's also the "I deserve better" mentality where people think it's just owed to them and not have to work for it. There's also this trend going on where we reward our childrens good behavior with snacks like cookies. That technique should only be used on dogs not kids... And then there's just plain laziness. Humans resist change and working out is a lifestyle, it's a life change. Most just want to feel better and once they do, they stop...
To each his own, but you can't make anyone do it if they don't want to, they have to make their own self-motivation.

A better question is why do you think that everyone has some kind of obligation to be at what you consider an acceptable weight. We're all not some chubby girl so desperate to hold a boyfriend that we allow him to browbeat us into going to the gym.

I think it is a combination of many factors. First, and foremost, we live in a society of convinience, which means that we are surrounded by processed food high in simple carbohydrates and fast, unhealthy foods. Second, people are busier than ever and don't take the time for themselves. Third, apathy abounds today. And the list goes on and on...

Most chubby gals (AKA bbw's) don't care about "Looking Great" because there is a whole subculture for BBW's. There are clubs just for them, restraunts, cruises, etc. Most just don't have the want to lose the weight because they are happy with who they are, not s socialistic idea of what everyone wants them to look like.

Yeah, it incredibly is me. yet i think of it fairly is a usual element in our international, reason it incredibly is plenty extra handy to have perspective over somebody elses issues than your man or woman, besides, being caught up in a convenience zone is a no longer uncomplicated one to beat, we desire the motivational solid advice from somebody else... whether that advice is something we knew all alongside interior the decrease back of our heads. Denial is a monster. I hate him ;-)
