I've had the purple ones which I thought were sweeter than the orange....but now I've heard they're bringing back traditional white carrots!?

I don't think the colour of carrots makes a difference in the taste, but it certainly makes any dish look more appealing. Adding colour to a plate always makes the dish or meal look more appealing to the eye.

Gee... I never knew that there's a purple colored carrot...

Yeah~ I think maybe different colors will make any difference to taste or cooking... Coz for me the taste of white carrot is different from the orange carrot... So yeah, it does make a difference...

i think the smaller orange carrots are sweeter as well ... they changed the colour to make them look more appetising .... i would give the traditional white ones a shot tho !!

Fresh carrots freshly dug up from your veg patch are the BEST.The supermarket one's have usually travelled a long way and they are pretty tasteless,regardless of the colour.
Fresh is best everytime.

organic carrots cooked in a presure cooker or steamer have the very best taste, try it
