Get into your BIOS, by pressing F2 during boot. Then Change the boot sequence to boot from CD first. Save and exit. Next time , put the XP cd in the cd drive, and restart the computer. This should start the windows installation.
If it does not work, then connect your hard disk as a slave disk to another PC having XP, and get it formatted.

Make sure your BIOS setting are selected to recognize a CD ROM as first option. Now if you don't have any important stuff on your pc (with linux) then I would suggest you to go ahead and format your hard drive completely. After that insert your Windows CD and let system recognize it and do the installation for you.

You can also use a software called 'Partiiton Magic' which will partition your hard drive without disturbing anything on your machine. In the new partition you can install Windows from the CD. That way you can have both Linux and Windows on 2 different partitions. Hope this information will help.

GOOD LUCK!

First you have to delete the partition. use start up disk and use fdisk to get to the menu, then click on 3 to delete then click on 4 to delete non dos partition.after you delete click on 1 to create primary dos partition.press esc and re boot computer format the new partition. if you want to install windows xp you do not even have to create partition or format it windows xp will do that for you just delete the non dos partition as I told you. about booting up from CD you get to CMOS and go where start computer check CD first boot then save and exit.
