They are not imposing Sharia law, they are simply refusing to transport alcohol in their taxi's. This is their right. The same as you have the right to refuse someone a ride in your vehicle who is doing something that you don't believe in or that you find offensive. The same as you have the right to refuse someone entry to your home.
As for offending the Prophet Muhammed(pbuh) what is the need to offend the prophet? The question should not be why does this upset Muslims so much, the question should be why does it not offend Christians when they make fun of Jesus(pbuh) like it offends Muslims? Are your own belief's so weak that you have to make them stronger by offending someone elses? As Americans we get upset by someone insulting our favorite football team. But it is OK to insult a holy prophet of Allah? We Wonder why we are at war with so many Muslims, why many of them hate us? Is it any wonder? Maybe Sharia law is the answer to respecting others. Maybe that is the only way idiots like you will learn respect.

They're doing like the Christian pharmacists who won't fill prescriptions for birth control pills. Laws have been passed in several states mandating that all pharmacists fill these prescriptions. Perhaps you should try lobbying your city council to do something similar in Minneapolis. I agree with you about this practice; that's wrong.
Oh, and Aziz, you make a decent point, but the question was about people who have simply *purchased* alcohol. That doesn't make them drunk--they may not have had a drop of alcohol to drink! Besides, you do realize that it's a public service for cabbies to take drunk people home, right? It's either that or have them try to drive--which would you prefer?

But that's not the reason they don't carry drunkards. Drunk passengers puke all over their cabs and they probably can't charge the drunk for cleaning it up.

Ain't that a shame that if someone says something bad about Jesus Christ (peace be upon him), you fail to respond. Obviously enough, the response doesn't have to be violent, should stay within the limits of sanity. There is always a good way to ward off evil.
