Best: American Airlines, Northwest Airlines, Air New Zealand and KLM.

Worst: United Airlines, Southwest Airlines.

Side note: I fly about 4 times a month, which averages to about 45-50 times a year. Almost every one of those times I book my own travel, regardless of whether it is my company or me paying for it. Not once in the past 3 or 4 years has Southwest been the cheapest option. Occasionally it has been as cheap as other options but far less convenient timing. And in the 8 or 10 times I've flown Southwest, they have been rude, their planes are old and dingy, I've had my luggage lost more than once, and their non-assigned seating is not any more efficient than assigned seating. No wonder it's so popular with white trash yokels who aren't used to flying.... American and Northwest are far better.

From discussions with other travellers (travelers), I have found airlines like Emirates, Cathay and Qatar.

Skytrax is the best place to go and look at the league tables, which the industry follow.

Singapore Airlines. I've flown all over the world, and Singapore had the best service, and the most comfortable flight. I was truly impressed with 'em.

I haven't flown them all, but the ones I've flown on have not impressed me at all.

As a former flight attendant, I've seen the service and the food go spiraling downhill. When I was a FA, we used to work. We had to cook the food and not just toss a wrapped thing on a tray. We had to smile and chat with the passengers. We had very strict grooming and weight guidelines.

Now, when I fly, I bring my own food and just try to ignore the rest,

Depends on where you're flying.

In the US, American, JetBlue and Southwest are good.

In Europe, Luftansa and British Airways are my favorite.

In Asia, Singapore, JAL, and Cathay rule!
