Hi there...prices will vary based on your location and if you choose a vet clinic (e.g. $40-400) versus a local animal shelter (e.g. $25-50). Shelters usually offer spay services at a very affordable rates some even for free if you are considered low income (be sure to ask about this) compared to vets and do just as a good job since they spay/neuter many pets daily before adoption. Consider calling around to learn about the spay fees.

Seattle has the right of it! Males will be less cost since it's not as involved as a female. Average cost is approx 25-40 in the South Texas/Corpus Christi area humane shelter. Also it's a good place to get low cost vaccines done at the same time.
Check w the local humane society for what spay/neuter programs are available in your area. I use a private vet and paid about $100 for my grey girl, but she had some other health issues and needed bloodwork drawn before she could be cleared for the surgery.

Getting a cat spayed can cost a good deal of money. I live in Alabama, and it usually costs between $150-$200.
When I got my cat, I was still going to college and didn't have that kind of money just sitting around. I called a few shelters and they referred me to a clinic that has reduced prices (compared to the normal clinic). I was able to get my cat fixed for $80. They were very nice and did a great job.
Anyway, you may want to call some of your local pet shelters. They might be able to give you more information.

Not sure about spading, but if you wanted to neuter a cat, my grandpa used to stick the cat down in a boot, cut off their testicles with a pocket knife and pour a little alcohol on it. Worked liked a charm. We usually would not see the cat for a day or two, but they usually returned when they got hungry. Makes for a tough @ss cat though!! Can whoop just about any dog it comes across. Good luck.

I live in the MId South, and it's $120 for a Vet to do it. However, here in our town there is one vet who does ONLY these operations and charges a lot less. ($60) So check your area for a Vet who specializes in this procedure and you may get a big break.
