So I wanted a dress that was semi-formal for our June 23, 2007 outdoor Texas wedding. I went to David's Bridal with yesterday a friend and tried on all kinds of dresses, and believe it or not I fell in LOVE with this gown. It is not traditional by any means as far as design, however it is very simple, and to me gorgeous. I wanted to know what you guys thought of it, if you don't mind. Please be honest! http://davidsbridal.com/bridal_gowns_detail.jsp?stid=2664&prodgroup=10

Thanks.....can't wait to hear the good AND bad.

It's beautiful !!
And the price is good to.

How did it feel when you tried it on? Was it to heavy to walk & Dance it or did it feel like an OK weight?

I think the dress is lovely as long as it fits your body properly. If you are going to wear the dress for the reception you need to make sure you are very comfortable in it. An option you may want to consider is buying a shawl or something similar to cover your shoulders as the day goes on. You can also use a length of fine wedding tulle to cover your shoulders.

When you try on the dress raise your arms as if you were going to hug you fiance, father, or other member of the family. This is to make sure you will stay in your dress ;)

Here is part of an advice article from a new wedding website, Renewed Dreams. This website also lists all the different dress styles and the good and bad of each one. http://reneweddreams.501megs.com

Congrats!

"Sleeveless: In the last few years a large majority of brides have chosen to wear sleeveless wedding gowns. These look lovely if you have a small chest, but should be avoided if you are very busty. When you purchase a sleeveless gown you need to make sure the bust fits tightly but still makes your chest area look natural. An improper fitting sleeveless dress will not move with your body. Instead, when you turn your upper body the dress will continue facing forward even though you are not. This also may not be the style for you if you have a heavy or thick ribcage. The dress will pull at the side seams and cause wrinkles across your abdomen. This also makes it very hard to zip up."

It is a very pretty dress! It is a little more formal than what I would want for an outdoor Texas wedding, and looks a little heavy. Do you think you can be comfortable in it all day long?

If so, by all means get it! I love the dresses with that puckered bottom!

That style of dress is becoming very popular as of recently with the big poofy. Personally, I don't like it - my wedding gown was very simple, form fitting and just classic - a grecian design. I'm thin and I just can't imagine wearing a dress that's going to make my hips look big. But if you like it and it looks amazing on you, then by all means go for it! But I think a more elegant gown is the better choice.

It's really up to you, If you love it then go for it.

I'm not to wild about it myself. I like the top and how simple it is, but my concern is that the skirt is kind of a fad right now and will more than likely be outdated pretty quickly. I would like skirts like that for any old formal event, but for a wedding, I personally would do something more classic....these pics are gonna be around your house for a long time! everythings gonna be outdated anyway, but why rush the process? Thats just my opinion, you asked for honesty! lol!

Once agian tho, It's not about what I, or anyone else thinks, the point is to get whatever dress makes your eyes get all googly and sparkly when you put it on.....you wanna feel the best you possibly can that day, so if thats the one, get it! congrats and good luck!

Stunning...simple yet very classy and elegant. You would need to be quite slim and long to pull this look off though. Absolutely love the low set waist and rouched skirting. I would definately have bought this dress for my own wedding had I seen it.

I wouldn't call this dress semi-formal though and might be too much for an outdoor wedding but perhaps you could add emeralds or touches of green, no gloves and perhaps a shorter veil will tone it down for the outdoor theme.

Cannot believe its only $400...

I too love this dress... However, when I went to David's Bridal a month ago to try some on, I tried that one on first. I guess it's my body shape or my height, because I personally looked ridiculous in it. I looked like I should have been standing on top of the wedding cake. It might fit your body type better than mine... I think you have to be a bit taller than I am for it to look right. Good luck with whatever you buy... Hopefully you do get that one, because it's GORGEOUS!!!

I think it is beautiful! The full bottom may be a little warm in the summer in Texas. But I think it is beautiful. It looks kind of like my dress for my summer wedding next year. However, I'm not outside in Texas. If you aren't worried about the heat go for it. It is what you want and what you think. Nobody else matters. If you feel in love with it then it is the one you should get. Good luck and congrats!!

Very nice, looks similar to the Maggie Sottero dress. Be careful with David's Bridal, I have heard many nightmare stories about the dresses falling apart. If I were you I would have it sewn on the seams by a seamstress before the big day to be sure it will hold up.

I actually tried that dress on in ivory and I thought it was stunning. I later fell in love with a different David's Bridal dress so I didn't get yours.

I just felt so skinny in that dress because of the corset-like top. It is very tight and very flattering for a girl of any size.

It all depends on taste. I got my dress at David's and it's very straight and form fitting. I'm really not into "fluffy" frilly dresses. It's a nice dress for you if you like the poofy look, I'm not taking anything away from the dress. Besides there are only two people who have to love the dress one being you and the other being your hubby to be. What I did was tried to find a dress that I knew would knock his socks off so to say. If you think he'll love it on you, then go for it! happy wedding!
