Remove kernels by standing the ear of corn upright on a cutting board or inside a pan that can be used to catch the corn as it is cut off. Using a sharp utility or chef's knife, cut the kernels straight down along the corn cob to free numerous rows of kernels at the same time.

First, cook the corn. Let the corn cool enough so that you can handle it, and stand the cob on its larger end. Holding the cob firmly, cut the kernels off with a sharp knife, starting at the top and working your way down to the bottom.

Use 2 bowls - 1 large, 1 smaller

Invert the small bowl into the larger one. Use this as a base or stand for the corn - flat end down. Then slice down horizontally in strips about 1 1/2 inches wide.

Take a knife and slide it down the cooked cob. The kernels will come off in strips that fall apart. Place the knife between the cob and the kernels and slice downward.
