I can't tell you between Spanish and Italian, but I started taking French this year and as pretty as it is, it's impossible! You could have a word in French with 10 letters, only 3 of them pronounced and not even the way they're supposed to be! And the number system is really complicated. Unless you are unbelievably passionate about French, DO NOT take it! I sure wish I hadn't!

If you are living in the United States, Spanish would be your best bet because the average American already knows about 800 - 1,000 Spanish words. (Examples: radio, patio, rodeo, paseo, padre, ect.) Plus with the influx of Spanish-speaking immigrants, you'll have plenty of opportunities to practice speaking Spanish. With French or Italian, there are fewer people speaking those languages here in the States and you'll have a more difficult time trying to practice.

You should be asking yourself which one is most likely to be of use to you! But to answer your ?: My personal experience would say Spanish - the pronounciation is fairly easy for us anglophones. I started studying Spanish much earlier than French however... that is clouding my judgement I am sure. Italian isnt that difficult to understand once you learn Spanish. If you live in the US, I'd say Spanish for sure as it's the 2nd language.

In terms of pronunciation, I would say Spanish is easier. In terms of concepts, I would say French is less complicated. As for Italian, it's close to French grammatically and close to Spanish in terms of spelling. I've taken both French and Spanish, and I would say "take French", but then Spanish is more widely spoken and so more useful. It really depends on what you goals are.

French is easiest, and is very beautiful. Spanish is used most widely. Italian is easy if you already know French.

Spanish, grammatically speaking it is the easiest. Also when it comes to speaking, the accent and intonation are quite easy to learn and adapt to. French is the hardest for English speaking persons to learn because of the accent.
