The Bible mentions the names of false gods, so this would imply worship which would mean religions. False religions were started by man.

Remember, Christianity is only 2000 years old; Judaism is much older, but was in a very small area geographically. Other parts of the world formed their own religions, such as Hinduism and Buddhism (both of which predate Christianity by a good bit) to the beliefs of the indigenous American people. It really wasn't until the Roman Empire went Christian that the Judeo-Christian religions got big, area-wise.

There were some BEFORE Christianity; much of the Pagan beliefs of today were from the "old traditions".. After Christianity came about, many different branches were then derived from it. No one ever said that any of them were ok; people just make/do what makes sense to them. I agree that all of the different branches of Christianity and other religions do complicate things, and yeah it'd be nice if there was just a common ground.

Yes, there are many. Lots of times they mention a "people", because each tribe was considered a nation and each nation had their own religion. Babylon had it's own religion, Egypt had it's own religion, the Phillistines had their own religion, so did Greece and Rome...all these people when mentioned in the Bible had their own religions, which is why the Jews were against them, and they were against the Jews.

Hey RB, all religion were started by man, God never invented religion.
And for your information above, Hinduism has been around for tens of thousands of years before the bible came about.

many different paganistic religions are mentioned in the bible but they are lumped together as idoloters or pagans. Satan is the father of lies so anything not of God is his. And he believed in God too thats not enough....

If you are not following the one true God, then you are following something else. The bible makes clear references to this act.
