Jesus chose from among his followers twelve men whom he called his apostles to be in his inner circle:
(1) Simon Peter and his brother (2) Andrew; the brothers (3) James and (4) John Ben Zebedee (the “Sons of Thunder”); (5)Philip; (6) Bartholomew; (7) Thomas; (8) Matthew the tax collector; (9) James Ben Alphaeus; (10) Thaddaus; (11) Simon Zelotes; and (12) Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him (Mk. 3: 14ff).
Later, the place of Judas Iscariot was given to (13) Matthias.

Jesus (peace be upon him - pbuh) had 12 disciples - Paul declared himself the 13th although he never met Jesus at all;
- so Paul was really not a disciple at all.
- and except Barnabas (one of the disciples) none of the disciples wanted to consider giving Paul the declaration of faith because he persecuted many Christians back then - and killed them; later on,even Barnabas denounced Paul as making a new faith different from what Jesus (pbuh) said.
- we Muslims consider Jesus and his true foloowers frm that time as Muslims as well.

They are all listed in the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) in the order Jesus selected them. The last one (after Jesus & Judas I. died) replaced Judas I. and was selected by rolling the dice. God bless you. ~Nise~
