Since you don't have insurance, the solution is simple. DON'T DRIVE! There's no such thing as "cheap" insurance for a 17 year old. Park it until you can afford insurance. PERIOD!

Since you are a minor, not only will YOU be "screwed over" but your PARENTS will be as well if you have an accident. They could lose their home, life savings, EVERYTHING.

Really doesn't matter if you had the green or not, if you are out there driving without insurance, you are illegal. All states have some kind of "financial responsibility" law in effect. If you can't afford insurance at your age, no problem. Park the car. Don't drive. If you live at home, and have a license, you should be on your parent's policy. If you aren't, why aren't you? There is no cheap insurance for a 17 year old.

First thing - go on line and get insurance, if you HAD hit other cars and injured or killed somebody, how do you think they would feel?
Do you really NEED an explorer? Why not a regular Toyota sedan, cheaper to run and insure and much safer, since you are only 17 you can't have been driving for long, I recommend that you save some cash an attend an advanced driving school, they show you how to cope with skids and blowouts and many ways of safer driving.

So- your question is how to get insurance- not whether you are stupid or committing an illegal act, right? Because I could have sworn from everyone else's answers that you asked to be chastised!

This is very simple. Go online to the big companies that have sites- GEICO.com, progressive.com, Allstate, etc. If you can't get an internet quote, call them direct or an agent locally. People don't drive with no insurance because the process of getting insurance is difficult, so take advantage of the ease. Your period of no insurance or lapse in insurance will be an issue with everyone you call, and you may pay more because of it. Better than the alternative though, right?

Isn't it illegal to drive without insurance in your state? It is in every state. You can be held personally liable for the cost of an accident and what about your own health? What if you are in an accident and end up in the hospital for 2 months? Do you want to start your young life with $180,000 in medical debt because you didn't carry insurance? It happens every day.

congrats on dodging the bullet. You are in violation of your states traffic code if you are driving without insurance. If you have a clean driving record you can plan to spend about 700 or more a year for state minimum. Go online to esurance or some such, and then compare locally.

You do realize you can go to jail for not having insurance? Look on the internet for insurance companies in your area and get a few quotes. Then go with the best price.
