It's not taboo, only some people still think that way. You're open minded and want to go out with him, so there's no reason not to. Good luck!

Its either you choose your family or the guy? When dating leads to marriage, your family won't be there with you. Also, the guy might still leave you for a white chick.

Its not really a taboo cuz the whites actually sleep with the blacks and its only a few that end up marrying. Whatever your decision, think of both the positive and negative sides. If its love, no matter the differences, you'd both fit like a hand in a glove.

I don't really blame your folks cuz they are scared of another person infringing on their culture, e.t.c. and the guy is really bold for choosing you and no other. Be careful and if its just a fling, its best to define it now and stick to it. That is, if its a fling, enjoy yourself and you can keep it away from your loved ones but if not.....the choice is up to you. Your happiness or plain old tradition.

I personnaly don't see what the problem is, and whatever taboo is still in effect is perhaps the continuation of an urban myth.

People of any race or creed should be able to "date" each other without any constraints. But not everyone is open minded not matter how so they think they are. Older generations are more inclined to fear the chabge, the unknown... So alot of older folks (like your family) may still be set in their ways...

I think only time will eventually open up the doors to true inter-racial relationships. Untill then, we can only do what we can with what we're given.

in my opinion, it dosent matter the color of the skin... but its how u determine the inside of that guy..... always based on 3 criteria:
-people that educate u
-people that provide u with shelter
-people that provide u with food

if we think back, the 3 criteria were fullfilled by our parents, and in relation, the most important thing is trust. if u trust that person not because of above criteria, u better think again. skin does not matter and there is no taboo about it, if that person is trustworthy and good, im sure there will be no objection by ur parents... what u need to do is try to talk to ur parents.. its up to u. Im a malay from malaysia and my girlfriend is chinese, its a taboo for most of the people in malaysia, but what i do is, i show to them that my girlfriend is trustworthy and there are no problems for malay to be with chinese. wishing u all the best..

It's just a little funny to see a black girl dating a white guy. One of my friends is black and she only dates white guys whereas I am white and my boyfriend is black. I get all kinds of nasty looks and comments from black girls about "taking their men", yet my friend gets "you go girl!" I just laugh at them saying, "Don't hate!" It's all about how much you are willing to put up with. Your family and friends will either get over it or they won't. That is the ultimate test of how much they really care about you. If they are going to stop speaking to you becuase of who you decide to date, then maybe you don't need them in your life.

I don't necessarly think it is taboo as not always acceptable by family members on both sides. If he treats you good and makes you happy and is a good person then see where it goes. If you are going to let your family who you got out with based on color then your no better than they are. A person's worth should not be decided on color but who they are as a person

If you like him go for it. Your family will get over it trust me. Mine did, which i really didnt care what they thought. Its not whats on the outside as you know. Do what makes YOU HAPPY,not everyone else. And be proud of your decision of dating outside of your race. As long as he makes you happy and is good to you is all that matters. Go for it sweetie.

Love is the answer to everything. All you ever need is love,
communication and understanding. That's what I figured out so
far. If you are down, you need to get up and start doing something with
your life. Don't need to be shy, be straight forward and allways say what
you want and expect from the others.

that should't be a taboo, all depends on the kind of family traditions.
