Downloaded Windows Media Player but doesn't open and can't see on Add/Remove either. It installed it "successfully (3 times). My music files were set to open with WMP before but I have to now open it with alternative (Real Player)

Is it not in the Programs list? (Start> Programs> Windows Media Player)

To change a file association
Select the file (eg Myvideo.mpg)
right-click
select proprerties
click the Change button next to Opens with

Click the Add/Remove icon in the control panel. In the upper section check the show windows upgrade box to see it.
To have WMP to open a music file, right click on one and then clic open with > choose program. Check Windows Media Player and also the always use this program to open this type of files at the bottom.
You can also click START and then Set Program Access and Defaults to set WMP to be your default player.

in the add and remove programs box there is a bit to click that says show updates, try clicking that and your media player should be there. if you downloaded media player 10 it will not work unless you have xp. also there is not much between 9 or 10, just looks nice.

ur media player privious installation or ur windows installation files may be crrupted.
using xp
right click on file (e.g. song.wmp)
click chang to change the program

be sure to download windows media player bete 2 and its updates from microsoft

Real Player must be your default player. You can change this, but I am not sure how.

Download it again from Microsoft.com try the beta version its much better any way!
