did she do a good job? i would guess so since you've been going to her for six years so try something along the lines of "you did a great job, i just don't like this color for me."
i know some hairdressers will get all uppity if you are just blatent. often you can soften having to say something you don't think the person will like with a compliment.

but deffinately let her know. especially if you didn't pick out the color a good hairdresser will change the color with minmal or no charge.

If she has been your hairdresser this long, I think that you can just go to her and tell her that you don't really care for the color. My hairdresser always ask me when I am done and she says don't lie to me now!

Just tell her that usually she does an excellent job, but you both must not have been on the same page that day and it didn't quite turn out the way you were thinking. Since she has been your stylist for so long, she could prob. tell if you liked it or not before you left. Most stylist, incl. myself, really want to make you happy so it wouldn't hurt their feelings. They would rather have the chance to make it right w/ you.

as a stylist you would do more harm by not telling me... dont go somewhere else and not let her know why . Maybe she was having a bad day and didnt realize what she did. Just call her up and say hey this isnt working for me can you fix it... at least give her the chance to fix what she screwed up... and just remember we are beauticians not magicians

You have to tell her or she could be applying the same treatment to others with the same expectations as you. Be polite and ask for suggestions to get what you want and discuss your options. She will be pleased to know that you still trust her to sort out the mess she made of your head.

Just tell her that you didn't get what you were expecting and that you are not satisified with your look. Your satisification is more important than thinking of hurting her feelings. Because that's what hair dressers for. For make people happy with their look. Not to make them suffering. One hair dresser made my updo in my special day look terrible and I still wanna send her mail telling her that she did a bad job on my hair and only took money.Belive me if she is good and professional, her feeling won't get hurt. Good luck!

Just tell her in a tactful, polite way what it is about the color you don't like. If you don't speak up, how will she know? She wants to please you.
