Exactly how would He prove that he is, in fact, the son of God?

Or would the authorities simply believe him to be another religious freak, and ignore him (and all his followers)?

Whose to say that He hasn't already turned up, been totally ignored, and gone crying back to Dad?

And if the answer is that the authorities wouldn't recognise him, what will happen to the millions waiting for him to arrive? Will God send them an e-mail?

I would have given you some answers on the first part of your question, but "gone crying back to Dad" is sure a turn off! Your question is disrespectful to those of us who love and follow our Savior!
My answer to you would be to pose questions in some other category, instead of mocking ! Ditto to some of the stupid answers you got too!!!

Edited answer!!
I'm sorry too, Dingo-Bob, I jumped to conclusions , wrongly interpreting your question....( lighten up JoJociecie! ;~)
Sooooo...as to proving that Christ is the son of God, I'd say that those who believe and know Him, would know by the signs already in our lives...Christ answers us when we pray, we feel spiritually connected to Him, and I'm not sure how we'd prove that He's the son of God, other than having that Spiritual connection to Him. I guess that proving it to ourselves is all we can do.
Would we recognize Him when he returns?
( not "If"...but "when") I think we all have a picture in our minds
about Him, so maybe we wouldn't actually know what He looks like..He was born into the line of David, so probably He would look Jewish, Olive skin, short, dark hair, and physically fit, as he was a Carpenter. And of course, all the answers below, about Him coming in great Glory, are true. That will be a wonderful time!!!
As for the authorities simply believing Him to just be another religious freak, I think that's entirely possible! Those of us who believe in Christ, his followers, are probably going to be looked upon as religious nuts, and either ignored or persecuted because of our belief. The way this world is going cuck-oo, I think true spirituality and all that's involved with worshipping truth, will be looked upon as "wacky!" But...they will realize just what's happening at that time of His second comming!
In my opinion about Christ already having turned up, I think that physically He hasn't...but for those who worship Him in Spirit and truth, His presence is with us. As for Jesus crying, I've read
that Jesus felt the same things we feel, emotions, etc...so I think that the way He sees humanity today, with world conditions, and getting worse all the time, no love for others in some cases, and with all the evil everywhere, I think Jesus' heart is very sad; I think He's crying to the Father; as after all, He died for every
one of us, and most of the world doesn't realize what he did for us, because He loves us.
I hope I've answered your questions, and thanks for "reminding me to "lighten up'!! ;~)

Well I'm a strong believer of God and Jesus. Trust me he is not coming back, however the Anti-Christ will which he will preform miracles and alot of people will follow, thinking he is god. Put it this way would you come back to earth if you were killed and tortured by the people you tried to save and help, but once the Anti-Christ turns 33 God himself will open the heavens and everyone around the world will see him and he will wipe the entire world only saving a handful of people.

It relies upon on his Father's timing.(Matthew 24:36) “appropriate to that day and hour no one is familiar with, neither the angels of the heavens nor the Son, yet in easy terms the daddy. It additionally relies upon on the sign he gave us to look for at Matt.24 Luke 21 and Mark 13. this could be a composite sign which potential a great form of little issues that make up one enormous sign. all of us comprehend that contained in the days earlier Christ coming to the earth there have been many prophecies approximately his beginning his coming the timing and so on.So while he develop into born there develop into little question who he develop into,The Messiah. He continuously shall we his people comprehend what he's doing,if we learn his observe.all of us comprehend now the time is amazingly short for the tip.(Revelation 12:12) in this account be happy, YOU heavens and you who stay in them! Every now and again you get people pop up claiming to be the second coming. They are always laughted at and forgotten. If you said you'd seen a UFO people would think you were insaine so claim to be the son of God and theres nothing down for you. But if there was a second coming what form would he/she take? Lets face it the most influential people in the world now are either warlords (bush), terrorist (Bin Laden), Film stars or sports personailties! Now that is worrying!

The Book says many will claim to be the Christ. But there will
be no way of mistaking His return. It will be like the lightning
flashing form the East to the West. Every eye, "minds eye".
will see Him. All at once, in a vision.

He already is here, lives in England and travels the world giving lectures and passing on his wisdom to those whose minds are open enough to accept the ancient wisdom teachings. He has written over 100 books and is around 80 years old in this current life. Seek and ye shall find. He is not going to save your soul or forgive you for your sins.....that is entirely up to you.

He won't be born again, He's already done that. He will come with great announcement from Heaven and all will know. Thunder will sound, volcanoes will erupt, winds will blow, tides will come all at once. All the angels of Heaven will be around Him as well as all the holy (saints; people from Heaven). He will come will great sound and sight. You will know for sure.

Read Revelation. It tells us exactly how we will know.

Since him and his dad are afraid to prove themselves, except for people claiming any natural event in their names, He would end up living in the streets somewere. I have seen pictures, he looks like most of the homeless out there.
