Yes-my sister used it until she was about 10. It's basically an oil, and it softens the skin. It did seem to be fairly effective, and does begin to work fairly soon. I don't think it was too pricy. You can also use it as a soap replacement if soap makes you itch. The other bath stuff which is good is E45, which also comes as a moisturiser and shower cream. Try and avoid the steroid creams though-they do work, but you're not supposed to use them too much, which is hard. Finally, see a dietician person, because there are some things which can cause the eczema to flare up badly-in my sisters case its Oranges, red peppers and peanuts.

My little boy had eczema on his cheeks. I was not sure what method to use but I didn't want to make my boy go through any surgery treatments at this young age. Some suggested a plastic surgeon since it was in a very visible location but our family doctor recommend this natural guide.

Yes it is very good. You used to be able to get it on prescription, but if you have to buy it it will be quite esxpensive. I looked it up on a medical website and it is £7.50 for 500mls, but I'm not sure if that will be liable to have VAT added. You can use it in one of 2 ways, rub it over wet skin then rinse in the shower or 20mls in a bath.
A warning..... Be very careful when getting in and out of the bath and shower as it leaves a very slippery residue. Also make sure you clean the bath with detergent after, otherwise the next person in the bath could also end up in trouble! lol
I used it for a few days before I noticed a real difference.
Its worth a try but remember what works for me may not work for you.

My grandson was born with eczema, he is 5 now and we still use Balneum in his bath water, it does help with the itching, we also use Eumovate cream, both these you can get on prescription from the G.P.

You really should speak to a professional to discuss. NHS Direct can help you.

Alternative therapy that has helped some of my friends is using porridge oats - put some porridge oats in a cotton or muslin cloth and gently rub over your skin in the bath. The white liquid should reduce the itching and sooth.

the only thing i do for my daughter is keep her body hydrated with 1% hydrocortizone and always put a whole lot of Aquahphore..it's gotten better as she had it all over her body as a baby and now she has it only on the back of her knees. i think babies grow out of it sometimes.
