Yes it is. Is that a surprise?

Yes it is true, felons can not enter the armed services. Reason being... felons cannot be around firearms.

I know someone who is actually trying to reenlist in the military after serving 8 years, but had got into trouble afterwards. Although he has all the training and "specialities" he must first get a pardon to be considered back into the military.

Hope this helps.

Depending on the branch of service, the field of duty, the original charges (including your age at the time) you can sometimes apply for a waiver. I am with you it seems, the military would take you; aren’t they desperate anyway? The individuals want a job and most would jump at a chance to work. I remember when I was a little boy going with my dad to court. The judge would actually give the inmates a choice jail or the Army. Almost all took the Army and according to my Dad did great.

yes only people with minor police records are even considered for an exemption. This would be something like minor possession of alcohol or vandalism. But no felons.

I don't know but by the time people come out they can have committed Murder, Arson, Assault, Torture, Wrongful Imprisonment and many more crimes.

If the army doesn't let felons join maybe it is because the army likes to train them from scratch.

well it was, but i understand that due to the recent administrations ill thought out iraqi adventure they are lowering the standards even more. I guess it only makes sense, you have a mediocre or less commander in chief, why not scrape the bottom of the barrel for our armed forces too.

A felony conviction make one ineligible for most civilian & Governments jobs. Criminals Can not gain security clearances or be trusted to do the right thing. So why would you want them?
