Italy is my favorite country after Egypt, and I fell for my husband on first sight thinking he was Italian! Turned out he was French, darn it, but that's Ok. :-) I've been to Italy 3 times and cant wait to go back again.
I believe that most of us think of warm, steaming hot pizza and lasagne when you think 'Italy', and well-dressed, thick accented beautiful people when you think of 'Italians'. Of course you never have a good idea of a country until you've been there and experienced it firsthand!!

Italy is a wonderful country to visit. As for the italians, they are like everywhere else. Some are nice, some are obnoxious...

italians are warm-hearted people, i like them much more than the nord-europeans.
