Get it treated, ASAP.
You'll need to keep your teeth in tip-top shape if a certain unnamed kitten continues his tirade of anti-dog abuse.

Having an abcess tooth when not treated with antibiotics can be life threatening. The infection can and if not treated properly will spread to the neck and could cause your throat to swell or the infection could spread to your blood stream. Sounds to me like someone might need a root canal.

never leave an abcess untreated as it really can kill u if it spreads.
see a dentist asap. meanwhile a good remedy for getting rid of an abcess is to mix equal parts baking soda and salt then dab a bit of wet cotton wool in ur mouth between the tooth and gum where the abcess is and leave in overnight. this will draw the poison out, bring down the swelling and take away the pain. rinse ur mouth out with warm salty water afterwards.
good luck

did you know people can die from tooth infections? the infection can get into the blood stream and go to the heart and you can die from internal infection. Tooth abcesses or infections are nothing to mess with. It can get to the point when anti-biotics won't even touch it. I had one of those pointer teeth on the top that had an infection and abcess. It was one month before I could get the appt to get it taken out. They told me afterward that the infection had gone up into my sinuses and they had to clean out my sinuses and take alot of gum away because if it. And that was after only 1 month. Please get to the dentist right away. Plus, what if that lump on your gum bursts? Then the infection is in your mouth.

I had one once and didn't get to the dentist for a week.
My face swelled and my the abcess started releasing puss into my mouth with wasn't nice.
I had a choice to have root canal surgery but it could come back, or to have the tooth out. I chose to have it removed, I didn't want that much pain again.
Get to the dentist quickly I'd recomment.

This can be very debilitating. Your teeth are connectged to your bottom by several large pieces of string like sinews. If you don't get abcesses treated, the strings break and your A**e falls off.

I can tell you this....it won't get better. It will continue to flair up and you run the risk of getting an infection that will spread. You may need the root canal retreated, or it may be another tooth entirely. Either way you will need x-rays to properly diagnose the situation. Take ibuprofen in the meantime to reduce the swelling, and use warm compresses, but by all means, get in to see your endodontist or your dentist asap! Hope this helps....good luck!

I had one once. I couldn' open my mouth. After finally plucking up courage to go the dentist the only thing they did was take my temperature (105 f ) and 2 hours later I ended up in hospital where I was operated on, having five teeth extracted, then given four hourly penicillan injections in my leg (very painful) for 2 days then operated on again to insert a drain in my jaw, followed by another 3 days of penicillan injections. I ended up in that hospital for 7 days. It finally toke six weeks before I could open my mouth properly. ADVISE get to the dentist asap.

It could lead to a nasty infection that could in turn lead to necrosis of tooth & bone in the vicinity of the abcess. All of the above leads to lots of very very VERY bad tooth ache/PAIN! Go to the dentist Barney!

If you do not get it taken care of, you will loose both the tooth and the money you invested in the root canal. Just because you already had a root canal on a tooth does not guarantee you nothing else can happen to it. I suggest you get it taken care of.
