Depending on how tight the ring is you may be able to remove it yourself with the following method:

1/Take a good long length of sewing cotton, slide one end under the ring with the main length of the thread below the ring (closer to the tip of your finger) .

2/Now wind the cotton round and round your finger in the same manner it is wound onto a cotton reel. (only one layer)

3/Next step is to take the length of thread that you passed through the ring and unwind the cotton from that end. As the cotton unwinds it should move the ring down your finger and remove it.

This was the method of removing a ring without cutting that I was shown when working in an A&E department. It is very effective.

Good Luck.

If you go to a jeweller they usually have a special tool which removes the ring painlessly.

You poor thing , same thing happened to me . i went to the hospital and they cut it using a special tool . it does not hurt . I gather you have tried all the traditional methods .Running it under the cold tap , using grease etc first ? keep your cut ring and take it to a repair shop , they added a piece into mine so i am still wearing my original ring ..... good luck

Any reputable jeweller will remove it, usually for no charge. Don't worry, it won't hurt, they place a guard behind it to protect your finger.
