Sorry I cannot have a drink with you after work, ---- I have to go home - - - - - - and cut my toe nails.
Personally, I would never use a "put down" as you call it. Men's egos are so fragile, and they get hurt very easily. So if you want to hurt someone - use the above. I always found I had better luck being a lady. After all you always catch more flies with honey than with vinegar!
