Defiantly, I don't what the laws are in India concerning tattooing in the USA Tattoo shops are required to destroy needles after using on an individual. Any thing containing contaminated blood can potentially infect someone. I would investigate the shop where he got the tattoo, to see if they are using new needles on each customer. Even with the laws in the USA, people are still infected with HIV. I know this probably doesn't help with the fear you are experiencing, If you are unable to find out what the hygene practices of the tattoo shop are I would take him to his doctors to have him tested. If he is infected the sooner he starts treatment the better. Good luck to you all.

Hi; ask your frend to have an HIV test. Though it has a small chance but if at all the tattoo maker uses same needle to pucture the skin even the slightest blood contact might infect it with HIV virus. Know one more thing that HIV virus does not means AIDS. p-pal live with HIV until end of their life and do nto get AIDS. But to be on safe side ask ur frend to have an HIV test.

he could be infected if the needles were not new and sterile ones.
infected could be passed if somebody with HIV was tattoo'ed with the same needles.
the machine is completly normal for how tattoos are done - its just whether of not the needles were new which needs to be resolved. i would maybe suggest taking the person for a test just to make sure.
i would never get a tattoo done other than a professional place that allows you to see needles being unwrapped infront of me so i knew that they are not used

Yes it can be dangerous if the needles are not new and the equipment used is not sterilized between clients.
It's best to use a tatoo artist that is reputable. The US has health laws that parlors must follow and they are periodically inspected.
