What's the best way to keep her warm? I want to build a house for an outdoor cat for the winter. Is it better to give her a big space (2'x4') with some big blankets or a smaller space (2'x2') with big blankets to build up and contain body heat? I'll build it so there is minimal draft coming in and it will be insulated as well.

Umm good luck. Not to be rude but I doubt she'll use it. BUT, if you DO put in some blankets or something you should throw in something that's yours (sweater, used blanket, stuff like that) bc she knows your scent and it's comforting so maybe she will use it. I mean, they have fur for a reason and it gets thicker in the winter so idk if she rly needs it (well, unless it's way cold then just let her inside!). Anyways, that's a totally awesome thought and I wish you well!

Actually, one of the best ways I've heard of to keep a cat/dog house warm enough during the winter is to put in a lightbulb. The light will give off a small amount of heat that combined with the animal's own body heat (and blankets, of course) keeps the space warm and comfortable. Smaller is better as there will be less space to heat, too.

try to insulate it with straw, then put blankets in. Give her the bigger space because lining the entire thing will take up some room. Make sure to build the straw up around the walls as much as possible and throw in a blanket so it's more comfy for her to lie in. You can get her interested in the house by putting her food dish right next to the opening.

a good cat service with the door secured open or a heavy cardboard container with plastic taped around all aspects leaving an front establishing. make optimistic the container is off the floor by potential of putting it on a palate or and heat rags or blankets for the interior. placed it on a sheltered porch. Canned cat foodstuff and water is plenty extra effective for the cat than milk.

To be honest, I don't know. Our coldest winter cold here is 38F and the cats come in. But they do make heated cat beds that you might be able to put in there if you can do it safely. You might want to consult with people in places like Maine.
