It might - so why take the risk? It's neither big nor clever (and I say that not as a teetotal moraliser but having drunk a fair amount in my youth).
Some people have drunk more and survived. But some people, with less tolerance to alcohol or whose health is somhow compromised another way - a way they might not even know about - can die from drinking 20 units (about a bottle of spirits) or less.
Anyone who is utterly drunk can die in a variety of ways, from accidents to choking on their own vomit. It's just not smart. And it makes you feel like hell afterwards.

Firstly the answer to this question is going to differ from person to person. Things like your weight and metabolism are going to change the amount of alcohol you can consume.
Other things will also affect the answer. If you have eaten for example, or if you are a regular drinker. A person who is physically dependant on alcohol has a much greater tolerance to alcohol which means they can consume much more alcohol than they would otherwise be able to.
I imagine that for a large person who drinks heavily regularly 37 tins of beer would be possible.
I wouldn't suggest you try it though.

Extreme levels of consumption can lead to alcohol poisoning and death (a concentration in the blood stream of 0.55% will kill half the population).
I'm not sure how this translates into an actual quantity since different drinks have different alcoholic percentages....
I have to say I know people who have drunk an entire 750ml bottle of bourbon to themselves plus various other shots during the night and while totally wasted they were still walking and talking at the end of the night. My husband is in the army and I've seen his friends down an entire case (24 bottles 375ml) by themselves and continue drinking. Mind you, these are seasoned drinkers and someone not used to alcohol could not possibly drink like this without ending up in hospital with alcohol poisoning at minimum.
Absolutely, totally excessive and I don't condone it at all.

i recently had a bout with alcohol poisoning... i'm a female, weigh about 145 pounds, and had a lot of vodka and tequila... maybe............. 20 shots or so give or take a few. anyway, the doctor said my blood alcohol level was over 400 and that people start dying at 500. if i had taken one more shot, i might not have made it.
so... it's nothing to play around with, but if you're absolutely set on doing it, it all depends on the height and weight of the person. the bigger you are, the less effect it will have on you. i 200 pound man can drink more than a 100 pound woman. i'm TABC certified, so i learned about the alcohol consumption in class. anyway, hope that helps a bit. but... i really do advise against it

depends on what you drink, there's a maximum of liquid that you can drink at once without dying, but if there's alcohol involved, it's a little different. and then there are so many alcoholic drinks, and so many kinds of beer that you just can't give a general anwser. i know it's quite a lot for beer though, but i don't know how much. i think 37 might be a bit overdone, but i seriously don't know. maybe check the guiness book of records, that might give a hint aboput it!!

I was sent many moons ago, a night out calculator spreadsheet. It calculates all stuff for this exact question, depending on body weight, type of drink, time period spent, Fighting vs pulling likelyhood, along with its blood alchohol levels to symptoms. The highest level on the sheet was Death by respiratory paralysis.
I weigh about 14 stone. According to the chart, if I start drinking at 6pm, 4 pints of weak(3.5%) lager per hour, I'd be dead by midnight as my blood alcohol per ml would kill me
P.S What cartoon were you watching!!

My first huband's cousin Colin drank at least 37 pints in a session once and lived to tell the tale. He is a big lad though, well over 6' and built to go with it.

Had a near death experience with alcohol at one company party.
I was drinking non stop from 3pm-3am. Starting with beer and later mixed with all sorts of alcohol.
Next day, I was bedridden and breaking out in a cold sweat. I was too weak to move and my mom had to feed me in bed. I really thought I was dying. Guess alcohol poisoning is not a myth.

It depends upon the individual.
Although there are many factors, such as health, a large person who is used to drinking alcohol will be more tollerant than a small person who never drinks.
I would suggest that you shouldn't believe what you see in a cartoon. I will let you into a secret that us "grown-ups" know....
...cartoons are not real.
Sorry to burst your bubble.
