It's hard to say, even though he can't afford it he really needs to be seen by his family doctor, it could be something serious.

All of the above answers are possibilities plus another half dozen that I could think of such as heavy metal poisoning or a space occupying lesion in the brain. Only thing to do is get some testing done. Go t the ER at a big teaching hospital. Yes you will have to wait a long time but they know what they are doing and they are not going to put you own the bricks without a diagnosis. Tell them up front that you have no money. Tax supported hospitals have to provide care no matter if you have cash or not. Most of them use a sliding scale of charges based on your ability to pay. When the bills, if any, come in then ether pay a small amount each month or blow them off. In a case like this your credit rating is the last thing you should worry about. No one ever went to jail for not paying their medical bills. After a while of non payment they write it off as bad debt and take it as a tax break anyway so don't feel too bad about it. This man needs first class care and they need to get it for him.

Seizures! I worked with a woman who had them. Her arms and legs would freeze up, hands would clench into a fist or lock onto whatever she was holding at the time. She would shake and fall unless we noticed sooner and grabbed a chair or held onto her. She was very disoriented during it and wouldn't remember anything after coming out of it, I would take her to the bathroom soon as she became alert enough to walk because she would lose control of those functions. Usually she would be thirsty after as well. Your father in law could be having them. The important thing is finding out what is causing them. But there are others things as well that can cause some of these symptoms. Regardless of the medical cost someone needs to get him to a Doctor and fast before he loses certain functions permanently. Talk to him or someone in the family about getting him Medicaid or Medicare. Even if he doesn't qualify for some benefits they can always help pay premiums as well as some of the larger bills that he can't afford to pay on his own.

Rheumatism could cause legs frezzing up
Deficiency in the body system could lead to loss of bowel and bladder control
He needs to relax his nerves and remain calm. Some test should be perform on him also.

It sound to me like a panic disorder or anxiety. I also experienced my legs freezing up, being mad, memory loss, stomach problems and weight loss. I was diagnosed with panic and anxiety disorders and am on Lexapro and Xanax which help. I also found that my legs were more prone to weakness when I didn't receive enough sleep the day prior. Hope all ends up well.

Well, my first guess is that you're dehydrated, BUT if your urine is light in color then that is not what it is. If this is the case, my next guess is to go with labyrinthitis. This is just a fancy word for an inner ear infection. I would go to the doctor to get it checked out and get some rest. Some other symptoms are: -hearing loss -lightheadedness -loss of balance -vomiting -ringing in ear
