I like Spybot but it does not detect all spyware. In fact none of the programs I have tried do. I use 3 programs for this purpose. The first is spybot, the second is AdAware and the third is Windows Defender. All 3 are free.

It's fine as a backup and works well with Adaware and a neat free programme called Spywareblaster; it has a lot of features in advanced mode that most people don't use like BHO and start up manager, active X control, secure file shredder but you can get these now with other free antispyware like Ewido etc
Use the immunizer and keep it; it won't do any harm. Get Spywareblaster though

Spybot is decent: I trust it enough. My only problems with the program is how long it takes to sweep my PC and the difficulties I encounter updating it.

But it's freeware so I can't take it for granted.

Its not bad although be wary of free service giving you a total secure feeling. Many sites don't have the insentive to keep up on their service unless they are paid.

I can't say it seems to make a big difference to my pc. I agree, get XP and make sure it's always up to date.
