Back then, people wore open shoes (akin to modern day sandals). If you had recently bathed, there was no reason to bathe again just because your feet were dirty just from walking around, so instead, they washed their feet.

Now, someone else washing your feet was a sign of their subservience (think : modern times, a person is quite capable of taking their coat off themselves, but a butler or a doorman [someone in a position of subservience] would do it for a person of status).

Now, when Jesus washed the disciples feet, He showed them that He, as the master, served those who were lesser than Him... in our eyes, no man is greater than Jesus, yet He humbled Himself to men to be their servant [akin to the master of a house removing the coat for the butler], so much so that He used His own clothes as a towel, and hence set the standard that all Christians are to be the same way, subservient to all mankind, even to the point where we lose our own dignity and those we serve, gain.

I have read your answers since this is the way you feel about the bible ;
Half-literate,desert-dwelling, wifebeating, goatherding misanthropes with political ambitions started that religion, why should their progeny be that much different in their defense of the faith?
Why do you even brother?
It is better to not to know God at all than to provoke him do you really think you can duel him seriously?

I am praying for you!
May God have mercy

Foot washing was common because of the dust and dirt that got in your sandals but it was usually done by the wearer. However, Jesus did it to show He wasn't above serving His disciples and as an example to them of how they should act.

I would say it was a kindness.A act of hospitality.Imagine walking in the hot desert for days , weeks, months, in sandals. I think it
would be very uncomfortable.

It sounds that you never heard of Christ before. Christ, at the night he was delivered by the traitor Judah to the Jews to judge him and to send him to crucifixion because he said he was the son of God, and because they never believed in him to be the Messiah that was to come to the Jews and deliver them from their enemies, and to rule over them for ever, Christ gathered his 12 disciples and prepared a vessel with water and started to clean his disciples feet one after another. Peter refused to have his Master Jesus perform that act as he said to him I won't allow you to do that to me. Christ told him: "if you won't let him do it for you you would not have a place with me." Peter then said to Jesus, "No Lord, you can cleanse all my body too." Christ replied, "No need to do that, cleansing the foot is sufficient". By that act, Christ intended to purify his Diciples from the filthiness of the path they had treaded among the people, and the path that they all will tread and all will walk through upon the earth when they spread the word of the Gospel. That was a symbolic meaning that he performed to his disciples. Then after he had finished, Christ told his disciples that if you call me Master and it is rightful that you acknowledge me to be a master. So if you know that being a master I had humbled my self down and cleansed every one's feet. In his exact words, Christ said that in John 13:12-17. He said to them, "12When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place."Do you understand what I have done for you?" he asked them. 13"You call me 'Teacher' and 'Lord,' and rightly so, for that is what I am. 14Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet. 15I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. 16I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them." So cleansing the feet of his disciples was symbolic to show a humble life and to serve the people after they receive the Holy Spirit to be sent to the world to spread the Gospel. All this meant to humble each one's self and to love one another as Christ did.

Jesus washed his disciples feet at the Last Supper. It was to teach them, and us all, that a true leader serves rather than rules.

I think it's pretty normal to have clean feet, so I wouldn't call that a fetish.
