I am moving from Cornwall with my job to Wrexham, we are due to visit in December to check out accomodation, but are unsure what areas are the best?
Also any other tips / info. about the place would be good.
Thanks Philippa xxxx

I live in one of the villages a few miles from Wrexham and there are a lot worse places to live. I grew up here then worked in London and have now moved back here from the South.

The house prices are generally pretty good and Wrexham has new shopping complexes appearing all the time. All of the major supermarkets and shops can be found in the town.

Many of the major cities are also fairly close by. Chester is 15 minutes away. Liverpool is 45 minutes away and Manchester 1 hour so the really big shopping complexes such as Manchester's Trafford Park can be reached fairly quickly.

Chester is only 11 miles away and the city is great for shopping and a day at the races! Prices for housing in Chester are a lot dearer than Wrexham.

Crime in Wrexham is below average for the country and if you live in a surrounding village it is virtually non existant. However, the town centre can be a bit of a rough place at closing time for the pubs and clubs.

Generally I have found people to be much friendlier here than in London too because the pace of life is much less hectic.

Villages worth a look around Wrexham are Gresford, Marford, Rossett, Bangor on Dee, Bwlchgwyn. All are surrounded by fantastic countryside and are within a few miles (5-10 mins by car) of the town centre.

Hope this helps.

I moved up there from London 20yrs ago, lived in Buckley (a nearby village) for 4 years. You'll find it a bit "Welsh" but the people (both neighbours and workmates) were really nice and friendly and I've kept many friends from there. There's some lovely North Wales countryside within reach and motorways are closeby if you need to travel. Before I choose an area to live I find it useful to spend a few days driving round a place and getting a feel for it. Chester is close by but you'll find it more expensive.

Chester is much nicer, and not too far away.
