I think He's more annoyed that Christians wallow in Christmastime commercialism. See my commentary on Santa Claus at the first link below. :-)

People keep saying that it's celebrated to mark Jesus's birth but evidence suggests that he was born in the summer. Christmas was placed towards the end of December so that people of pagan religions that were converting to Christianity didn't have to stop celebrating Winter Solstice and Yule which were also towards the end of December. There's still a large chunk of original traditions adhered to: decorated trees, presents, the whole christmas feast, yule logs, mistletoe, wreaths.

If you look at Easter you'll see similar things, it used to be a pagan holiday celebrating spring, the rabbits and eggs symbolise fertility and is at the start of spring.

JESUS' actual BIRTHDAY maximum biblical scholars and preachers comfortably admit that they understand Christ exchange into not born on December twenty 5th. although, they declare that this present day is as solid as the different to have fun the delivery of Jesus, even though it exchange into initially a pagan social gathering observed as Saturnalia which honored the delivery of the sunlight god. God had this to declare approximately appropriating pagan techniques of worship and attempting to honor Him with them: ok, i understand you have been in basic terms being playful, yet I in basic terms had to declare it!
