Hi,
I am glad to say these answers are not entirely correct. It depends on many different variables such as how old you were, the nature of the crimes (felony or misdemeanor); it also depends on whether it is county or city and even what kind of a position. As an after thought, you might be able to have your record sealed or expunged. I wish you the best of luck. God Bless you and the Southern People.

A Criminal record will prohibit you from working in the police force because it means that you have the tendency to do it again.

As long as you do not have a felony. If you do they may let you be a police clerk but it would depend on what your felony was. If you have a criiminal record that reflects violence against others, you will not work with the police. They do a statewide police check as well as being checked through the FBI and CIA database. If it isn't a felony you can have it exspunged after so many years.

It really depends on what the crime was and the situation, but most civilian police wont even except you with a record period. Try the military, you can be a cop, they will at least take the time to look at your situation and see if you have a chance.

The greatest irony is that you may not, but the cops themselves cover each other's civil rights violations on civilians, and abuses of power, making them criminals with "clean records."
