If a person was on a deserted island, or in life threatening danger, or some other special circumstance, would it be ok for them to self-baptize?

In other words, if this person was alone and allowed God to baptize them in the Name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, with water, would this be a valid baptism?

And if not, why? Are there any Bible quotes or other resources that say that one must be baptized by another person, or another Christian?

The "proper minister" of baptism is any human being - does not have to be a Christian, so long as they intend to baptize, use water, and say the right words.

So as you describe it, a self-baptism would be irregular but valid.

But it sounds like you don't really need it, having already received the baptism of desire. ;-)

Baptism is an outward expression (Testimony) of your faith. It does not save you. In being baptized you are expressing and telling those around you that you have already been saved.

If you were all alone, I would say that God would understand if you passed on the "Outward expression of your faith" as no one would be around to see and or hear your testimony anyway.

However, wouldn't it be sooooo cool to go aheand and "dunk" yourself as an expression of your faith in your Savior? I think it would take on added meaning (A praise and thanksgiving).

yeah! If you were all alone and had no hope of anyone baptizing you. I'd say honor God by obeying His commandment to be baptized and dunk yourself. That would be really cool, just YOU and GOD alone. Kinda cool!

There is also something called "Baptism of Desire". If you would get Baptized if able but something beyond your control prevented it, you're still good to go.
